Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is an American TV journalist anchor and commentary anchor for NBC News based in Washington D.C. After growing up within New York City, Mitchell received a degree in English literature from the University of Pennsylvania. In 1967 Mitchell became a reporter for KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. 1996, she joined WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). Then she joined NBC News Washington two years following that as a general reporter. Beginning in 1981, she began working for the White House and became chief Congress correspondent in 1988. She was named Chief White House correspondent in 1992 and the chief foreign affairs correspondent for NBC News in 1994. Mitchell has been a panelist and anchor of the TV program Meet the Press. Mitchell was on a panel for the debates of 1988 between George Bush (then president) and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married Alan Greenspan a former chairman the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism for The John F. Kennedy School of Government. In 2004, Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) was honoured Mitchell for her contribution in the defense of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was the first reporter to write about White House stories for NBC News during Ronald Reagan's tenure as president from 1981-1988. She covered a wide range of interesting stories such as arms control the budget tax reform, and the Iran-contra scandal. Mitchell went on numerous trips along with the President Reagan to summits with Mikhail Gorbachev and other world heads.
